What is counselling?

Counselling is a confidential and supportive process that provides you with the opportunity to talk openly about your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

At different times in our lives, we can all face challenges that feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or simply feeling stuck and unsure of how to move forward. Counselling offers a space where you can explore these experiences with the support of a trained professional.

As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do or give advice, but to listen with empathy, understanding and acceptance. Through building a trusting therapeutic relationship, counselling can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your emotions and the patterns that may be affecting your wellbeing.

Counselling can help you to:

  • Understand and manage difficult emotions
  • Build confidence and self-esteem
  • Develop healthier coping strategies
  • Improve relationships
  • Process grief and loss
  • Explore the impact of past experiences
  • Reduce feelings of anxiety and stress
  • Gain clarity and perspective
  • Make positive changes in your life

Everyone’s counselling journey is unique. Some people come to counselling with a specific issue they would like to address, while others simply need a space to talk and make sense of what they are experiencing.

Whatever brings you to counselling, you will be met with warmth, respect and compassion. Together, we can create a space where you feel heard, valued and supported as you work towards greater emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
